If you’re buying an e-bike for the first time, you might not be aware that there are a number of factors to consider before you buy. Knowing the right electric bike size for your height is an important first step. So why is it important to know the right ebike size? How does this affect your riding comfort and experience? We’ll answer these questions below and give you some tricks and tips about how to make the right choice, so you might want to read on!

1 Size matters

Most simply put, riding the right size of ebike for your height saves you from long-term and short-term injuries. Riding an electric bike should be an enjoyable and comfortable experience, however, in the short-term having the wrong size bike can lead you to be off-balance and uncomfortable while on the bike and quickly develop fatigue and pain. Long-term risks are back and wrist injuries from an incorrect riding position. But don’t worry, with a few simple measurements you can be confident you’ll be getting the correct ebike for your height.

2 Measuring your height

First, it’s important to know how tall you are. To accurately measure your height, stand upright against a wall with your shoes off and your legs together. Use a pencil to make a small mark on the wall above the top of your head. You can then use a measuring tape to measure from the floor to your pencil mark.

3 Choosing the frame size

Frame size is one of the most crucial aspects of an electric bike’s size. The frame size mostly determines the relatively sizing of most of the other components of the ebike. Some level of adjustment can be made to accommodate fitting a particular frame size, such as saddle height and handlebar size and style, however, it’s best to make sure your frame fits first, before making decisions about these other features.

Frame size is the measured by the length of the seat-tube on step-through designs. This is the distance between the bottom bracket (the axle in the middle of the pedal arms) to the top of the seat-tube (where the seat clamp holds the seat post).

The size guide above shows the essential size details of our Adventuri E-Bikes and how these compare to different rider heights. Using the above height guide you’ll be able to determine which size of ebike is most suitable for your height. Our 26” wheel diameter Adventuri E-Bike has a frame size of 17”. You’ll see that by using the adjustable saddle height this frame will comfortably accommodate riders between 4’10” to around 5’10”. Our 27.5” wheel diameter Adventuri E-Bike has a frame size of 18”. This bike will comfortably accommodate riders between 5’2” to around 6’1”. For those riders around 5 foot in height, either bike could fit you comfortably. The key deciding factor here is your level of confidence. For more confident riders, the 27.5” Adventuri E-Bike is likely to be best. Whereas those who are likely to cycle less often and are less confident may enjoy the ease of getting on and off offered by the slightly smaller bike
