Old Blue contributes bikes to E-Bike Workshop

Over the last few weeks, it has been a great pleasure to take part in the Triple Teez ‘have a go’ E-Bike workshop in Māngere. As a researcher at Massey University, my colleagues and I have been investigating how to encourage greater levels of active travel (using bikes, scooters and the like to get around) for commuting, for fitness, or just for fun. Our latest study involves workshops that give people the chance to ride an electric bike for the first time. I’m delighted that Old Blue Electric Bikes were able to contribute our popular range of Adventuri e-bikes to the workshops for people to have a go on. Helping to keep the electric bike revolution rolling by spreading the word on the possibilities and the fun of ebikes is what we’re all about and giving people the opportunity to consider e-biking as a healthy, environmentally friendly and, most of all, FUN way to get around is my passion. The workshops were a great success with around 20 locals getting the chance to learn to ride ebikes safely, build confidence and ultimately go out onto the streets of Māngere (and some of their new bike lanes). The workshops were run by Teau, known to everyone as ‘Mr T’ and his friendly team of volunteers. Mr T’s ‘Triple Teez’ charitable trust aims to equip kids with bikes and bike skills to keep them safe and healthy and now with Old Blue’s Adventuri e-bikes to use, they can help get people of all fitness levels and confidence out on bikes. We’re so happy to be part of this valuable research with the support of Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and Waka Kotahi NZTA and with researchers from Massey University and the University of Auckland. We look forward to contributing to more e-bike workshops in the future.
